The Importance of Partnerships to Advance Interoperability

Public agencies and private companies initially developed data standards to satisfy specific internal use-cases. As time passed, government agencies broadened the scope to satisfy interagency or interindustry use-cases. Now, as connected devices and vehicles are becoming ubiquitous, we support continued development of national and international standards to satisfy government or industry wide use-cases. As the need for data standardization grows, so does the need for public-private partnerships.

This presentation discusses past hiccups, current partnership use cases, and welcomes brainstorming on how we can use our collective expertise to better develop open data standards.
