Riparian areas are important natural resources that are rich in biodiversity and ecological and hydrological functions. These ecosystems contain specific vegetation and soil characteristics that play important roles in protecting water quality and stream ecosystem health and are very responsive to changes in land management activities. Riparian area's extent, shape, size, and land cover composition are important parameters in any successful watershed management plan. In this session, Sinan and Linda will present a robust GIS model to quantify riparian areas utilizing free available data and hydrological inputs.
